Things were better when there were restrictions on how many propertyies investment corporations could own.
It's not about corporations per se, its about monopolies and investor corporations who know nothing, care nothing about the public interest.
Radio and TV served their communities and were loyal to their workers who helped them when the founders owned them.
But the families sold out and now corporate investors couldn't care less about the product and the people who produced it.
If you don't understand the difference, you weren't in it back when it was both FUN and when it served the communities.
Now your future rests with quarterly profits and your property is programmed by an out-of-state consultant who doesn't even know the names of the people on the air.
This isn't rocket science, even from your kitchen table! Check what the veterans broadcasters say reminiscing about the good old days. All retired, all remembering radio before Reagan. What is there today to 'enjoy' with all the automation.
Remember the requestlines when fans could talk to the air staff and say hi, or lets have a drink? Replies:
