Your comments align with my recent thoughts that just as a chess board has ranks and files, so too could the cancha. In chess, the vertical files are labeled A thru H, while the ranks are 1 thru 8. Accordingly, any square can be specified with a letter and a number. Eg C5.

In jai-alai we already have line markers. We might get away with 5 zones, A thru E, for the width. In theory, if anybody cared to track, we could know the overall outcome for rebo's fielded at 8C. We could know the same fig, but exclusively for elite fronts. Like that.

Maybe something like this already exists. It's a simple enough idea.
