Re(1): Fixing America

AI Cleaned up my late night writing. Whaddya think?

Friends—this is the truth we need to say out loud.

Congress cannot heal itself as long as Donald Trump dominates one of our two major parties. He rules by fear and revenge. He threatens his own allies, punishes dissent, and too many Republicans fall in line because they’re terrified of him and the political machine behind him.

And let’s be honest: he got away with it because a Supreme Court he helped stack gave him permission.

This didn’t happen overnight—and it will not fix itself when Trump finally leaves the stage.

We must set the stage before he’s gone.

That means voting out the rogues in Congress who obey him blindly. That means winning back Congress with clear, decisive majorities—not razor-thin margins, not excuses, not business as usual. A narrow majority just leaves the door open to sabotage. Democracy needs breathing room.

Once Trump no longer has veto power, Congress can finally do its job:

restore fair rules so party leaders can’t bully lawmakers

remove dark, anonymous money from our elections

reassert the authority of the legislative branch over an out-of-control presidency

And yes—we must repair the Supreme Court.

The Court was never meant to serve a party or a president. It was meant to serve the Constitution. Getting presidential politics out of the judiciary is not radical—it’s essential. The rule of law cannot survive loyalty tests.

Only after democracy itself is secure can we fully turn to what truly matters:
affordable healthcare, caring for our children and elderly, and restoring America’s moral role in helping the starving and desperate around the world.

Those goals mean nothing if our system is broken.

Let’s stop pretending this was accidental.

Mitch McConnell blocked President Obama’s final Supreme Court nomination—not on principle, but on raw power. He held the seat open, waited for Trump, and rewrote the rules. That single act changed the balance of the Court and shattered long-standing constitutional norms.

It required collusion between an abusive president and abusive party leadership—and it must never happen again.

And the media? Too often silent. Too often treating authoritarianism like just another campaign tactic.

Fox News didn’t merely report—it marketed propaganda, bankrolled by corporate sponsors who chose profit over patriotism. Without that ecosystem of lies, much of this damage would never have taken hold.

This playbook was used before:
Bill Clinton targeted with partisan impeachment.
Hillary Clinton buried under disinformation—despite being vastly more qualified—until voters were confused, misled, and exhausted.

At the state level, legislatures quietly rigged the rules—gerrymandered districts, suppressed voters—while national media chased polls and horse races. Local journalism too often looked the other way.

And that negligence had consequences.

January 6th did not come out of nowhere. It was enabled—by greed, by lies, and by people willing to use the Constitution to try to destroy democracy itself.

So hear this clearly:

This may be our last clean chance to stop a repeat.

The answer is not cynicism.
The answer is not silence.
The answer is an informed public—armed with facts, not fear.

Democracy only survives when citizens defend it.

That responsibility is now ours.
