There used to be the rule that they could not compete in the same game.

This was a problem during the strike at Dania, as Oyhara and Oyharzabal (both backcourters), wound up in the same game due to some sub situation. I believe they cancelled the game and refunded bettors.

There was also Beheret and Beheretche, but Beheret was never in his brother's class, so their chance of conflict was nonexistent.

My guess is that the rule changed due to sheer neglect. People stopped caring about jai-alai in general, so the old rules just did not matter very much, kinda like the sport itself.
