This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. I have just finished reading a book entitled Mayhem in the Med a chronicle ofthe Cyprus emergency from 1955 to 1960 as I was in Cyprus from June 1958 till nov 1959 I found it very interesting and I relived many memories the LF s are mentioned a few times On Friday 5 th April 1957 the LANCASHIRE MEN ON guard Nicosia the recently arrived1 st lanc Fusiliers have been selected to mount guard At Goverment House forthe next 2 weeks apart from the obvious serimonial duties the troops will be expected to regular sweeps ofthe governors house and grounds as well as post entries whenever the helicopter landing site is in use this will be the battalions first operational employment in Nicosia I know that Georgewason this guard as I have photos On friday17 th April1959 Lancashire men in white Nicosia D company 1 st Lanc Fusiliers have on clouded their tour of guard duty at Goverment House the men commanded by major WVG Smith have Been mounting the ceremonial guard for his excellency the Governor Bigfoot dressed in white No 1 dress Sir Hugh has been so impressed by the men�s smart bearing thathehaagreed to join them for a formal group photograph before the return to duty with their parent battalion the regiments C company provided a similar guard detail from the 22 d Sept to Oct 1959. These are just a few of the mentions but Minden day 1959 sir Hugh took the saluteattrooping the colour I was there too God Bless The Lanc Fusiliers I
