Re(1): Dania’s Product 2025-26

I'm really happy with this season. For me, it's great. Hate to see it go.

Needless to say, I disagree with most of what you wrote.

Let's just cover one point: "When Danel is dominating singles there may be a problem."

Right. Danel is far from the best singles player, so if he's dominating, something is not right. That does make sense.

However, to say that Danel's 3 singles wins on Tuesday constitute 'dominating' is horribly superficial. We should be able to do much better.

So, using my own technique, I ranked the roster, based strictly on singles. Johan on top, no surprise, and the 3 well-known struggling guys landed at the bottom.

But we really need to understand that in these singles games, there is a temendous amount of randomness.

- which 8 players will be in any given game?
- which posts will they have?
- which post does our player of interest have?
- which specific players will he face as the game unfolds?

Turns out that in the games that Danel won, none of the top 6 guys participated.
Danel faced 2 guys slightly ahead in my rankings and went 4-3. Not bad.
He faced 5 guys much lower than him, and annihilated them, 8-0. Nice.

Watching the replays, he did receive a few gifts along the way. But he also made some great plays, like a perfect long carom that could not be run down.

So my takeaway is that running the table against the lower echelon is great, but it absolutely does not mean that you will roll next time you face the big guys - Johan, Garcia, Argoitia, and friends.

So, 3 out of 4 wins = great
Domination of singles = no way, that was an exceptionally favorable setup, and Danel made the most of it.
