Beleth of the Dunes
Falling on my Sunday best.
A giggle could be heard in the depths of the Dunes one Fall warm morning. The sound was higher pitched thanks to it coming from a foal, but the reason for it was not as child-like. Before the buckskin colt of Lucifer was a snake, one with a rattle. It hissed at him and shook its rattle, angry at being bothered. Beleth, as he had been named, was not exactly the best behaved child. It was reasonable given the way he has been since he was born that he would be out here by himself. However, it was not so reasonable for him to be poking at something that could kill him with one fang and its venom.
“Cmon!” He squealed. The busyness of his tail was starting to straighten, speaking of him growing into a yearling here soon. It was only the rest of fall and then winter before he would be a big boy! He found himself excited, but at the same time was slightly irritated by the fact. He knew his father would expect him to behave better as he got older, but he did not want to. Instead, Beleth wanted to run free, cause chaos, and be the reason other people cursed his fathers name yet again. It was a fun way to live his life, even if in some ways he found himself knocking on death's door with a pizza in one hand and a glass of coke in the other.
Snorting at the angry snake, Beleth went to step forward when the thing struck. Squealing in only the way a foal could, Beleth bounced back. He had been far enough away to avoid the strike, but instinct had him dancing back anyways. He was not quite ready to die, even if he certainly should have been that way months before now. Lifting his head though when he heard someone yell his name, the colt looked away and the snake took its turn to slither off. Grumbling slightly at the fact, Beleth watched the distance to see who would be coming.
