GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
whispers in the tall grass

The sable stallion walked quietly next to August, one flute of an ear twisting in the other male's direction as he fell into step alongside. It was an easy pace, not demanding of either as they followed the well-worn path out in the direction of the southern border. The Prairie lead wasn't sure that he could call August a friend. They didn't speak often or deeply enough about anything more than the state of the herd, dealings with outsiders, and how that day's patrol went. As the tendrils of bluegrass swished in dewy arcs against his canons, the paint wondered if things were better that way— keeping things simple and business-like— rather than becoming friends and risk getting too involved in each other's personal lives.

At the mention of a stallion, Lir's head twisted toward August sharply. The curve of his ear flattened back against the sandy skin of his poll, a rough snort flares pale nostrils. "I have," he grumbles with a flick of brown tail. The knowledge that some outsider was bold enough to tread so freely across the Prairie had riled the typically relaxed paint. Something in August's tone though.. hazel eyes turned toward the bay, as if looking upon the male will tell Lir whatever it was that tugged on his gut. The lack of insight into the other stallion made it difficult to take what August said as anything other than truth, especially with Lir having had few friends and even fewer instances of betrayal. There was a luxury and a naivete is not suspecting anyone other than Lagoon brutes.

The dunskin had essentially no experience with those who believed in deities. He, himself was more the sort to feel that the land, the trees, every thing in their world had an essence, a spirit if you will. Lir didn't understand the further personification of these spirits as far as having offended one as August has been accused of doing. It didn't make sense to the lead, and that set him further on edge. Brow furrowing, the sable stallion shook his head out of vexation. "I've never heard of such a thing, but I follow. We need to make sure he leaves us and the herd out of.. whatever his 'Lady' wants."
