Spoken (written) by someone that sounds like they have direct involvement and self-serving purposes beyond general interest. Lighten up Francis. First of all, saying "that the stakes couldn't be higher" is a bit much. The fact is that if Local 2 had zero pension fund representation, everything would essentially work as it has always worked. If you think the elected Local 2 or Pension Board members are making the system work, you are fooling yourself. Second, you assume that retirees are all Martin-fans. This is not true.
So, vote your conscious. Nothing wrong with that. But let's not dramatize a simple election as if the end of the world depended on it. The political action position, if it was properly served and executed, is far more important than anyone on the Pension Board or the Local 2 Executive Board. It is the elected politicians of the city and state that will determine the future and the viability of the Pension Fund. Replies:
