Lucifer of the Dunes
And my dice aren't weighted.

He had heard everything she said, he promised that much. However, the L word she used had the black brute standing stock still with stiffness coloring his frame. His mind speed ran the ages it took for a 90’s dell desktop to load. If you were to hear what his mind sounded like, it was the exact copy of dialup. THe horrible ringing was almost strong enough for his teeth to chatter, but Lucifer did not even manage that. Instead, he was forced to stand there like a deer in the headlights as he looked at Teagan.

’Love’? He thought internally once the ringing passed. The four letter word tasted odd on his tongue. If he were to have a taste for the word, it was like honeysuckle mixed with cinnamon. It was sweet, light, but also punched him in the back of his throat. It coursed through his mouth and swallowed down into his stomach as he tried to process it. He wanted to know the why, how, and what made her think that word was a good idea with him. He did not understand, and probably never would. It ate at him just as fast as it registered.

Shaking his head slightly once he managed to get a full grip of himself, Lucifer eyed his two toned mate. His crimson eyes looked over her frame entirely for the first time since the Commons. Yes he had watched her, been there for their son's birth, but it was like lightning striking the same place twice. It was a rare phenomenon that made everything brighter. Before him, the glass that could be made from lightning hitting sand stood. Before him, a creature that was everything pure seemed to capture the darkness that was him. With Teagan came the second, but not the least strong leash that tethered Lucifer's soul to a better life.

Swallowing past the sweet taste in his mouth, the Demon King slowly managed to take a shaking breath. Everything in him had just tilted twenty degrees. If he could describe it, it was as if his world just found a focus point. No longer was he revolving around many planets. He was the moon to whatever planet Teagan was. He was not always there to gave light, but her colorful figure before him was like a tapestry that drew him in. He was not able to be the good man she deserved, but he would be the one to burn the world down to protect her. If it came at his last breath, he knew it would be worth it.

“I love you too.” He managed to speak through a throat that was now constricted. His crimson eyes blinked slightly before locking back on her with precision close to that to a rifle locked on its next trophy. His body might be the equivalent of cocked and loaded, but he knew he would never unload on the woman before him. With a stuttering breath, the stallion let out a few more words.

”In this lifetime and the next, I am your’s Teagan. In whatever life we find after this one, I will find you. Never will I leave you for more than the few breaths it takes to call my name. You are the center to my universe. Forever will I circle around you as you guide me home.”
