Dreamer did not say anything for a while. Instead, she absorbed everything that Nicodemus said and let it hold her mind. She was unsure of what to think about it all, but at the same time there seemed to be some truth to it. Yet, even if they were just sub-leads and it was his job to hold everything together and keep it safe, he did not have to do it alone. Holding those thoughts internally though, Dreamer just looked away for a moment.
“It is not the herd I am really worried about.” She finally spoke, bringing her eyes back to Nicodemus. She had never really been one to care about the whole herd after everything. Everyone had their own ways to live and she was not about to step in with any of them. To her, it was better that she just hung around the edges. No one could dampen her day if she never let them get close enough. Out of everyone here, Nicodemus was the only one she found herself searching for enough time to speak with every so often. Most might think it was because she wanted in with the herd leader, but it was not so surface level. Dreamer wanted to learn of him, to see what he saw, and most importantly, she just wanted company sometimes.
Licking her lips and sighing lightly, the woman shrugged her shoulders. “My father was similar in making his job to protect everyone. Yet, he had help a little bit more than you do.” Dreamer knew Tyr also had to deal with her mother, but that was beside the point. Dreamer was nothing like Asphara unless you were to take in the way she would stare at the sea and wonder just what was out there. She never once had the heart to run away or the want. She was happy here in the Inlet, even if she wanted to whack some of the horses with a shovel for being so… distant from their duties.
At the last bit, Dreamer thought before giving a slight nod. “Maybe you should make a choice with the one you have not seen. The other can be ‘distracted’ with a child, but remember not everyone has had that luck.” Raising a brow, Dreamer eyed Nicodemus. She did not know of his past, but she had a gut feeling many stallions across the islands were not given the chance to be sidetracked just because of their first born. If she had a guess, even the sisters leading the peak did not really get to be that way either. It was mares like her, who were basic herd members, that could afford that kind of life. They were protected. However, the herd leaders were not as protected and had to fight day in and day out at times to keep everyone safe and cared for.
