Spec 7 Place Probs - Riddle Me This

Ok, I asked 3 top AIs to work out the anomaly with posts 6-7-8. They are hopeless. They need to be spoon fed every insight, and even then they don't quite get there. So you can't just say, "Look up the rules for Spec 7 scoring and tell me what's up". Maybe that's a testament to the complexity of our scoring system.
What you can do is ask them to produce a nice ASCII bar chart to illustrate the problem.

The way I interpret that chart is that since 1 and 2 are mirror images, we can disregard post 1 and limit our puzzling to the 2 thru 8 pattern. We could say that it's a progressively declining trend that somehow is broken by post 6.
Why? Anybody wanna try to outdo the AIs?
