The Strait of Hormuz is 21 miles wide at its narrowest point. It has two 2-mile-wide shipping lanes for inbound and outbound traffic at that point, separated by a 2-mile buffer.
As a commercial hub, the Strait dates back to at least the 10th century AD.
In a thousand years, has anyone thought about blowing up the Musandam Peninsula to better connect the Persian Sea and the Gulf Of Oman?
