CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster. The 3RRF website (note below) and its accompanying message board, was originated and run by Dennis Laverick who was also at the time the webmaster for the LF Website.
It was actually run as the Fusilier Association Website and 3RRF was part of the sub groups on the Association Site.
Sadly during the summer of 2023 Dennis came under a lot of pressure from ' The Tower ' who had put their weight and support behind Fusilier Connect. (FC).
It had received substantial funding and was viewed by the Tower hierarchy as " the modern way forward " and a far better way to attract new members to the Fusilier Association. Active use of available internet platforms was to be the new norm. We now of course have the Fusilier Club as the replacement name for the Fusilier Association. Membership is via their Facebook page and internet presence. I need say no more on that.
Unfortunately for Dennis, the bright sparks at the Tower with their blinkered forward thinking mentality, viewed the Fusilier Association Website run by Dennis, as being very old fashioned, lacking the ability to attract new members, and not ' in tune ' with modern day communications and expectations.
The Tower tried to control and direct the Fusilier Association Website through Dennis, who was having none of it. In my view the Tower placed an intolerable burden on Dennis at a time of great personal difficulties with health issues, and trying to deal with a seriously ill wife.
All this unwanted pressure came to a head when Dennis himself decided to close the Fusilier Association Website. He had had enough. Nothing new has since been added.
Having just viewed the old Association Website message board I note that it has indeed slowly filled with inappropriate posts. Dennis would of course have removed them. I still actually have all the access codes to the old Fusilier Association Website.
I remain convinced to this day that the intolerable strains placed on Dennis during the summer of 2023 were contributory to his sudden death in August that year. OAFAAF....eh?
