Re(4): Thermal imagers

How many line of duty deaths or even serious injuries have occurred and nothing seems to change. Two line of duty deaths in the past 3 months and all the FD is concerned with is the respiratory con ed. Seriously. Get it done or else you’re suspended. I say it over and over. We do not train enough on the part of the job that can actually kill us. We focus more on the part that while important, is not the most dangerous aspect of the job. We do have a whole section of the fire department dedicated to only ems calls. Online firefighting is not the answer. If there is equipment sitting in a warehouse that helps make the job safer, then we should utilize it. Training and experience go a long way as well. We need to take it upon ourselves to go out and drill. Becoming an officer relies less on experience and more on how well you can take a test. COFO and Instructor 1 don’t give you real time experience. Wait until the next round of promotion exams comes around and all the 7 year wonders at slow houses score in the top 200. Then what?
