Ears bend towards her as she speaks. He watches her without blinking, in tend on catching every word she says. She wasn't taught to love herself. Her family never showed her worth or gave her the tend love he had grown up with. Though Augustus knew his own hardships they have not come from negativity of his family. His parents had been loving up until his mother's untimely death. His brother had been a great brother. His father...has always been there when he needed him.
He waits to say anything because Addi looked as though she wasn't done. As she speaks again, he nods. It was obvious she was raised as a lessor sibling. Boosting her confidence would be difficult, but it needs to happen. There was no way their own relationship could move forward without some kind of self worth.
Augustus did not want to use or abuse her. He wanted to know what she thought and how she truly felt. He didn't want to spend his life with her unsure how she truly felt or if she was just sticking by his side because it felt comfortable. He wanted her to really feel something for him. He waits in the silence for a response after his confession.
Everything was up to her now, but waiting was so difficult. He could feel the sweat begin to pool on his forehead until words finally escaped her. He nods a 'yes', too nervous to answer out loud. She speaks again and at first he feels his heart flutter with happiness. It soon takes a nose drive as she explains having no experience with such feelings. He nods again, slow this time, until his lips can finally part. "Maybe it is time you start not listening to what others think. Only your opinion matters. Only your heart matters." Maybe she would understand and maybe she wouldn't.
It will be really hard to unlearn all the bad habits she grew up with. It will be hard to learn despite being the best horse you could be bad things would still happen to you. "I don't want to force anything Addison. Take your time figuring out your own feelings and in the mean time I will continue to watch over you as I have been." He then recalls this recent past few months where he has been distant.
"I apologize for not checking on you sooner. I was recently very ill and I didn't want anyone to see me like that. For a few weeks there I could hardly move." He chuckles lowly at his own misfortune. He always wanted to be as adventurous as his father, but the one time he actually got out there he came back deathly ill. "But I am fine now," he adds so she doesn't worry.
