A coronation; a beheading (Alioth) Posted on July 31, 2026 at 04:58:01 PM by Pantheon
Pan was lonely. Her mother had died while she'd been away, and the threads she'd left behind were poor company. Pantheon could not even properly make out the picture Naydra had been going for; the scope of her plans were just too large, and she had only begun to weave the edges together, with no indication of what was supposed to manifest in the center. Her mother's vision had always exceeded hers; had always exceeded everyone's, as far as Pan could tell. What Naydra navigated as neatly as a spider, her soot-gray daughter could only comprehend as a tangled mess.
Maybe Naydra was just crazy.
Pantheon descended the mountain. Winter was beginning to brush its fingertips along the lowlands, but it had gripped the Peak in an iron fist for weeks by now, so the gentle snowflakes and crisp breeze were a reprieve. They did not touch the dun mare through her thick winter coat.
She paused at the edge of the Falls and decided not to descend the rest of the way. The spring-fed creek rushed across and through the stones at her feet, coming to the end of its winding journey down the mountain to be spouted off one final precipice. Mist rose up from the pool far below, and Pantheon peered over the edge, watching the transformation of the rushing water next to her as it frothed and fizzed and broke upon the rocks below.
