French Fried: No Garcia In Colonia Is No Bueno Posted on October 17, 2026 at 11:36:08 AM by BigMucho
We reap what we sow in life, even across the pond in South America.
Did the French jai alai braintrust really believe that they would win a World Championship in Colonia by sending second and third tier delanteros to represent them? It's not rocket science -- all France needed to do was to invite their two best front courters (Garcia and Johan) to play for them and they would have had a great shot to win the title. Instead, they allow Johan to emigrate to team USA, and Garcia to sit home on his couch in Bidart playing "Call of Duty: Warzone" while team France gets b-slapped in the Fronton Del Real De San Carlos.
The best French team in Colonia is team USA.
And assuming that Basque was not injured or ill, the decision by the French coach to bench him in the middle of last night's partido against the Sorozabal brothers reeked of utter desperation and foolishness. This is the same Basque who won the "golden belt" honors from the JAL as the best back courter of 2026. Just wow.
And then that brings us to France's Libois selection, a guy who was probably the seventh best front courter on Dania's roster this past season... Forget Garcia and Johan, I'd have readily taken even Olharan or Tambour over this guy.
