The $2 amount worked in as much as they did not lose money it for the first time probably ever. However, it also stopped the 1 or 2 people who would wager $500.00 or more on the bet to try to hit that 2k guarantee, which did happen more than enough, because it became too expensive for them to have to bet $1,000.00 to $2,000.00 to win at a loss.

I think the $1 base should return, with a guarantee of $500.00. I only bet into the Jai 5 once this season (today), but not a crazy amount. I sometimes play the Pik 3's...those were good to me
