They have been referring to the pari-mutuel games as “practice” for years now.
With 0% direct knowledge, this is my take on “Pelota Miami”:
The World Jai-Alai League sale did not include pari-mutuel and the 2 licenses West Flagler Associates still controls.
This short meet satisfies those licenses until 6/30/2027
For the Florida fiscal year 7/1/2027-6/30/2028, who knows what will happen. Without currently having a casino and/or poker room, WFA would have to satisfy requirements during that time period to keep those licenses active as far as I know. Hence the reason Orlando has previously had a 40 performance season over 5 days behind closed doors with no wagering/simulcast.
Dates for the 27-28 fiscal year usually need to be submitted by 12/31/27 with approved dates & licenses posted on the Florida Gaming Control Commission website around May.
**Again, this is from my personal knowledge, when government is involved, things can change. A law was changed after the sale of Magic City Casino to allow WFA to move their PM licenses within a specific distance which included Broward County.
