- Signing day used to be in February, the early signing day has become the real signing day because most players (especially good ones) enroll early. Transfer Portal. Boosters at programs pushing for the change. ADs using the extra time to involve more people at the school, former players, boosters, etc or at least make them feel like they are involved.
