The SS WEP (program) is still in affect. Our National FOP is fighting to eliminate the program and has tried to keep this battle alive through the transition of government leaders. I feel strongly that receiving legitimately earned SS retirement is NOT double dipping, because the money is not for the same time periods. I also, feel the withholding all or part of my SS just because I worked somewhere else is immoral. A migrant worker could have worked the same years in their “home country” and returned to the US to receive 100% of their SS. I am not asking the government to pay me SS for the time I worked for TPD, but the time I worked at several other jobs, paying my fair share of SS taxes. People retiring before January of 1986, receive 100% of their SS benefits but afterwards NO. So, why does my retirement in March of 1986 make all or part of my SS years VOID? Why am I being deprived of $1000’s of dollars annually just because my retirement date, or the fact that I was lucky enough to work for TPD? The fact is, if I had not worked at all or worked in a foreign country, during the same years I was working for TPD, I would have received 100% of my Social Security.
