Side of a Bullet’s black ears were gently perked towards Kunikpok and Bronx, hoping for an answer from either of them. Her eyes came around and met his, and he let a small smile onto his lips for her. Comforting reasons? His head cocked slightly to the side, sort of in his own thoughts, though more wondering if she was going to answer before Bronx did. His attention was at the pair to his front, so he did not notice when another body came into the clearing. When someone cleared their throat, his skull turned and his brown eyes rested on the dark figure of Blaez. A wolf he did not particularly like. Bullet’s ears went back, and laid flat on his skull, though he did not flash his fangs, as it seemed Bronx was. Neither of them wanted the other male there, obviously. The wolf spoke and then grinned at the femme, causing Bullet’s eyes to narrow. Could he really be trying to flirt with her? He did a couple stances and winks and what not, trying to get her attention. Out of the corner of his eye, the tan and black lupine noticed Bronx’s apologetic look, and Bullet gave a little nod. It was not until Blaez’s dark form left the clearing that he realized how tense he had become, and his hackles had even spiked up some. He shook his head a bit in a disappointed manner, before turning back to face the other two, his fur already smoothed out and a small smile back in place on his lips.

Bronx then spoke some parting words, parts of them causing and invisible lupine brow inch upward for a moment. Though overall, he remained where he was, giving his gentleman’s smile and nod as Bronx left the clearing. Then, her gentle voice took him by surprise … he had not been expecting her to speak so soon, though it brought his black tipped tail to wag a few times. Bullet lowered onto his haunches, looking at his paws instead of at her as she spoke. His ears were up to catch all of her sweet lyrics. There was a silence after her words that were almost wishing for him to respond. Well … not that he did not enjoy hearing the words, he just did not know how to respond to them. His brown eyes traveled back up to her form. Though he did not flirt, he was still a male, and could admit that she was a rather beautiful femme. Perhaps that was a reason he disliked Blaez. It seemed that wolf was only in the race for Kuni’s feelings because of her looks. Bronx had proved different to Bullet already.

Thank you.

His words were rather quiet, especially for him, obviously showing he was hiding some words. Looking up, the dark clouds looming in the sky made him frown for a moment. It didn’t feel like rain was coming, though who knew? Perhaps mother nature had a little surprise in store? His tan paws began approaching her so they could talk from a more comfortable distance, when he noticed how … in a way, how hungry she looked. His tongue ran across his teeth, and the wind whipped against his frame.

Ms. Kuni, you seem so hungry. Of course having not eaten in so long … I shall return promptly. I’ll be in your sight the whole time.

He nodded respectfully before turning and heading towards the trees. Indeed, he would be in her sight, though she would not be able to see what he was retrieving. A stream ran along the outside of the clearing, clear and cool. The night before he had caught a couple fish from up in the mountain streams … the best fish you could catch in Blossom Forest. Side of a Bullet had been eating the fish from the mountain streams as his meals since coming here, because his favorite thing from back home in the north was the fish that he would hunt from breaks in the ice. And always he came back here, and store his catch, normally five or so fish at a time, in the stream. Bullet knew that he had to keep the fish cold while it waited to be consumed, and so it remained in the stream until he came for it. The wise wolf had piled some small rocks underneath his stock to refrain from the fish floating along down stream. So, that was where he was headed. The exact place where his catch was stored was cleverly hidden, only he knowing about the almost constant supply of food there. Taking his coal nose, the male dug the branches out of the way, then continued only a few feet further and there was the little treasure trove. It was replenished with fish just the night before, so there were now four fine specimens waiting to be eaten, he having eaten one of them after catching. His jaws parted and he reached for the one that was the furthest down. Not only was it the largest and best looking one there, it would be the coldest. The end of his muzzle dripped a couple times, until the wind dried it off. In fact, his maw was completely wind dried by the time he reached Kunikpok once more.

Parting his jaws, he dropped the prize at her feet. He was about to speak when the wind really howled through the trees, chilling to the bone. Bullet saw her shivering, and so brought himself to her front, blocking the wind from hitting her frame. He came all the way so their bodies were touching, in hopes to warm her up. He placed his skull on the side of her head and rested it on her shoulder in a way that was like a ‘wolf hug’. She could snuggle into his pelt if she wished … to keep herself from the wind. Noticing his mouth was near her ear, he decided to whisper. Talking loudly that close to her ear might hurt, since wolves have more sensitive ears than humans, and humans don’t even like it when people shout in their ears.

I brought you a little something to eat. You really need to build your strength, and I thought you might like it … most northerners love their fish.

He chuckled softly. His hot breath was gently blowing against her ear. It had certainly gotten colder in the last twenty minutes or so, he thought. As he spoke his words puffed out little clouds in front of his mouth. She questioned his reasons for wishing to talk alone with her. Not in a suspicious manner, more just curious. The wind let loose once more.

Well, first things first, I suppose you’re confused as to what happened.

He cleared his throat before going on, as if not really wanting to talk about it. He did not like it when his friends were hurt, and Kunikpok he considered a close friend.

You were up and about after a meeting and suddenly you fainted. Bronx and I rushed to try and wake you. When that did nothing we carried you to the cave I had found while exploring the terra before. Every day we checked on you several times … him and I became friends during that last few days while caring for you. We were so worried … if you were not up by the end of my run today I would go on to another pack to find a healer. I’m so pleased to see you up, and overall doing fine … I was so scared that …

He sort of zoned out while speaking, remembering it all. Bullet trailed off, deep in thought still. The male did not even want to start thinking about the ‘what ifs’. Those were what scared him the most. But in a very Side of a Bullet like way, he gathered himself back up. Enough to let a small smile back onto his handsome features.

Don’t you ever do that to me again, Ms. Kuni, you hear?

He had spoken in a clearly joking tone, although no doubt there was some kind of seriousness in there. He nudged her with his tail so she understood that he was not angry at all. They remained in the wolf hug kind of way, his head against her head and shoulder, and their bodies pressed to one another, for a while, because to him it seemed like the weather was not about to look any warmer. It was a good five to ten more minutes of them just keeping each other warm in silence before his masculine voice embraced the air once more.

So, Ms. Kuni, how are you? Don’t hold back behind a mask with me, let me know. How are you really feeling right now?

She seemed the type that hid emotions quite well, but he did not want that. They were friends, and he hoped that she could trust him enough to let him in. Even though she could not see his face, he wondered if she could tell how badly he wanted an answer. As time moved, the temperature seemed to also move … colder. In fact … a few minutes after he came to the obvious conclusion that it wasn’t getting warmer anytime soon, a small white speck was fluttering in front of his nose. After that one, a couple seconds later, another followed. Then more and more began until it was lightly snowing on the land. It was only autumn, but that did not mean that in some places the white stuff would be holding back. His eyes light up as did his spirit when he saw this. He absolutely loved snow, and since she, too, was an Inuit wolf, he figured she would as well. The wind blew harshly once more, slapping them with the snow that continued to fall at now a steady pace. The ground did not yet have a layer, though he didn’t doubt that it would have a blanket of white within an hour’s time. He lifted his skull away so he could look at her face, though keeping their frames together for warmth.

Reminds me of home … wind and all. Even though it’s cold I somehow find it comforting …

He smiled, somewhat amused at the fact. Side of a Bullet was very grateful for a friend like Kunikpok … his first and closest in Blossom Forest.
