The white fey was up earlier than was her habit- unable to sleep, the vampire had crept out of her resting place as early as was safe. The sky was still stained with veils of pink and red, and the sliver of a moon was ghostly and faint.

Torment was an unusual mix of emotions; happiness, fear, anxiety- she was not used to the last two. What use did she had for being nervous? She was beautiful and deadly, and she knew it. She'd never felt nervous before, nor ever expected to. But now she did. Not nervous of an enemy, but nervous of the one she loved best; nervous of Fang.

She had carried the secret that stirred beneath her pelt for three nights now. Three nights since she had felt the first fluttering heartbeat- three nights since she'd noticed the bump in her slim frame. Narcissa was off, journeying to the distant corner of the map where Torment's sister lurked- Decoy should arrive just in time.

And now there was just Fang to tell. She couldn't help feeling a flicker of unease- the memory othat he other femme- that, unlike her, her mate had sired pups before, and how easily he had shrugged them off. Of course, she couldn't beleive he would just leave, like he had left the other girl for her, but part of her was unconvinced. Part of her wondered if she really meant more to him than the other she wolves. Uncertainty was an unfamiliar taste, but now it ran through her veins like wine,

The white wolf gazed at her reflection in the still waters- a snowy fey gazed back at her- angular features you could cut yourself on, silky fur, purplish grey eyes. Black, swirling ivy markings wound their way around her neck, her shoulder, one forepaw. It'll be fine, she told herself. He's yours, remember? Yours. He'll be glad to hear the news.

Gathering herself, she sat down on the dew laden grass, and waited for the brute.
