At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

( I'm really, really sorry for how late this is and also for switching back to third person. I think I'm too used to it xD Also, there's opportunity in there for Kenina to attack him if she's at all inclined, just 'cos he's such an arrogant idiot :3 The post is quite short too, fail... )
Njord had remained in his idle position all the while, half listening, half thinking about his next meal. His nose was twitching, full of the tantalizing scent of freshly killed rabbit, so very close and so very warm. He debated on stealing it from the girl, but he figured she was a far faster runner than he and would be up and out before he'd even had a chance to sniff the bunny. No, perhaps he would try and sweet talk it from her. He was, after all, far better with his tongue than his paws. As he decided on a plan, the lass answered his questions in her own tinkling voice and he raised his emerald gaze to meet her mustard ones. She spoke about her bearing, which pleased Njord, the lady wasn't a commoner or a servant, but royalty. She also spoke of odd rules and not being pampered, but the male didn't pay too much attention until she mentioned the rabbit. What a spot of luck! He didn't have to say a word, Kenina was sharing with him without any persuasion. Well, he certainly wasn't going to turn the offer down. "Well, it is good to meet a royal princess in such foreign lands. I see you were not able to take servants with you either. Perhaps we should find some together, hmm?" He smiled a toothy smile, slowly pushing himself to his dark paws and stretching out. He finished with a quick shake of his pelt before eyeing the rabbit with greedy eyes. "I would be more than take your meal, I have a rather large appetite. I am, afterall, a growing lad, I have much to feed." With a dry chuckle, Njord crossed the ground between them swiftly, bending his head over and snatching the rabbit from underneath her. He was brash in his movements, a lazy, confident swagger apparent in every step. He didn't even take care to hide his vulnerable neck when close to Kenina, so full of his own arrogance that he believed she wouldn't try anything through fear or admiration of him. He was so used to being obeyed, to timid slaves cowering in his presence, he had little idea of self preservation. He almost thought he was invulnerable. Back in his homeland, the burnt-chocolate youngster had led a pretty pampered life. He'd been fed and spoilt every day, given the best meat and practically whatever he wanted. Anything he asked for he was given, the servants obeyed his every whim and desire and he'd never had to do anything for himself. He was a talented animal, but his natural talent was always spoilt by arrogant boasting and idle laziness. He knew he was good at most things and so felt he didn't need to prove himself at anything. Of course, when his brother had become leader, things had changed somewhat. His parents had doted on him and his siblings but his brother was not so kind. The pair often got into tussles and arguments and Njord always found himself at the losing end. Simply because he was far to lazy to carry things all the way through. Eventually he'd left and entered the 'real' world, where there were no servants and no doting parents. Suffice to say, he had been regretting his decision for some time now. But home was far too far away to return to and so he was stuck in this odd place. |
