Is it written in the stars?
Are we paying for some crime?
fayte
Fayte looked back at Maero. The poor mare was high strung. No, it seemed more than that. Fayte was not high strung herself - but she’d met many a high strung creature. Maero was scared. She was scared of something, but Fayte felt it impolite to pry - at least as she had only met the mare less than an hour ago.
Still, the appaloosa looked at the dun. She seemed to stare at her own reflection - and clearly saw something different than the creature that she was. Fayte was unsure if she could find words to comfort a stranger. Even if she wanted to.
But her mother had been right, don’t start running. Because once you do, you can never stop. This mare seemed to have been running for a very long time. And was showing the wear. She looked tired. And she couldn’t be sure of what the new stallion would think. But that was a bridge that would be crossed when it came. She wasn’t going to be inhospitable or cruel for fear of what the stallion would think.
Courtesy should be given to everyone. Always. After all, Kindness cost nothing. But it could mean a lot to the people it was given too.
