The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

I was keeping an eye out for anything happening that would give me something, anything to do. I had been in the pack for months now and Kershov hadn’t needed a spy. Perhaps I should switch careers to assassin. I was already good in stealth and hiding, so maybe it wouldn’t be too different, besides more jobs. At least I knew I would be working alongside Ruhani, the only other teenager to willingly come here. But I hadn’t seen her around lately. Perhaps I should’ve given her the benefit of the doubt, she might be finding prisoners for Kershov. Perhaps Bright Moon would bring a battle our way soon, that would bring a bit of interest into this pack.
I followed the sound of the alpha’s all call to find many new recruits, and a few prisoners. I scampered up a tree to watch. This was excellent, we needed more wolves if we were going to war. One called himself Wolverine, and he seemed to have potential, but his obvious lack of discipline brought a slight frown to my face. Mind you, I can be a bit unruly at times, but not flat out flippant. Another called himself Loki, offering his service. Wolverine didn’t seem too happy about that. I skimmed over the rest, some were familiar, some hated me, some I had never seen before, but I was watching for one face that had not showed itself lately. Ruhani wasn’t here. If she wasn’t here by now, she wasn’t coming at all. I couldn’t keep a slight growl from escaping. ''What would we be without friends? We would be nothing, thats why we are friends, best friends from now on.'' I could still remember our pact, and now she had thrown it away. I felt a burning hole tearing in my heart, leaving me more angry than sad. Abendrot was for the loyal, so if she didn’t like that she had a right to leave, I supposed. Forget leaving the spy business, I would take her place as an assassain while holding down the position of spy.
But a single question burned itself into my mind. Why did she leave me?
