At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Nearly two weeks had passed, flown by like he was having fun but this time he wasn’t, he was on a mission. He wondered what had happened to the girl who had somehow locked a link to him; it was as if now Yoki was his responsibility. Sure, she had declared love to him; she had spread a giant lick kiss all over his face but surely that was only because she hadn’t experienced this kind of love; the friendship kind - feeling secure and safe without just having a mate. Amatus sighed, this was a mess and he really didn’t know how to sort it, he needed to find Yoki and make sure she was safe and alive... Of course, she could be dead but Amatus had a sense that she was still clinging to life. Though, he did not have a clue what state she would be in; which meant he should hunt for her in case she was hungry, sickly thin or alive. Which hopefully she was: alive. Amatus looked around for any rabbits or any rustlings but there was nothing; only the crisp breeze and it struck passed the withered and mighty old trees; like snakes.

He hadn’t come back when he promised her; or rather he had but she wasn’t there. It was his fault,, though, he had stupidly been in a trance watching wolves hunting deer when he realised it was the evening. Amatus had skidded back; appendages kicking against the air and up from the ground… But it was too late, so he had slunk down into the den which she had slept him and vowed that from that day to search for her every morning, noon, and night. And he had slept, the trees had seemed to lurk over him, shadows dancing on his pelt; watching him with curiosity. The walls of the cave seemed to tremble and almost fall. The darkness swamped the valley and sounds of other wolves haunted him. He now had experienced what she had had to go through. It drove him out of the cave though; the thought of it collapsing as he attempted to sleep drove him mad. So he slept tucked in the trees roots. Amatus knew he had to find this girl; she was driving him mad, he couldn’t sleep without knowing that Yoki was safe or secure… If he could just find her…

The knight twisted and slithered his way through the broken forest, he would once again check briefly The Staircase Falls and if she was not there then he would run off to hunt and run off to find Yoki. His silent paws touched the ground for a mere few seconds before he would lift the others. His breath was also silent, and also fluent without any raspy screeches of breath control. His ears were fully alert, going this way and that way but none of it would work as well without his nose; the scents would roll freely and he could determine if Yoki was that scent but right now he got nothing. Though, he still had a bit to go before reaching Staircase Falls where he hoped she would be, or at least briefly so he could at least track her scent down. The trees made many obstacles with the pointed out roots, fallen branches and even a fallen old tree, perhaps from storms. But he managed to conquer them all without being wounded. His ‘princess’ kept him going to save her from the dragon of despair. He needed to find her soon, and then, hopelessly he reached it.

A mangled mess lingered hopelessly in the land, she looked as if she had no purpose to live, let alone eat. Maybe it was Yoki; it was always worth a shot. His appendages lightly sprang into action, trying not to scare the young female. If it wasn’t her, he would take care of her and look for Yoki, it wouldn’t be too hard… But his nose told him it was Yoki beneath the skinny body she had. Amatus stared, horrified by the sight of his ‘princess’ like this. “Oh, Yoki; what have you got yourself into?” He whispered, soothing her.
A pink tongue licked her fur; starting at her face where he carried on up to his ears before stopping and nuzzling her. “You should stay her, Yoki. I’m going to hunt for you, how does rabbit sound?” He asked before gently bashing her head. Not waiting for an answer, he leapt right away into the forest and towards Prey Plateau.
