During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

How could the demon let this happen? He had been preoccupied with a girl at the borders, true, but he still should have sensed this. Well, Serris guessed it was going to happen eventually, but not this soon. The hound’s paws flew across the terra, pistons shifting below his lithe bodice. He had always prided himself on his speed and his endurance; why would you need excessive brawn when brains could win far more battles? Streaking through his territory like the bullet he was, the Alpha hoped he would arrive on the scene before any real damage was done.

The he-beast had been meeting with a fae, Alleria, at the borders to accept her. A routine thing, except she intrigued him and he ended up spending more time there than he had planned. He had even bypassed chasing after that little pup Kobato to meet the lass. The young girl was probably heartbroken; her little ‘Serryberry’ didn’t come find her, he didn’t play the game with her, he broke the rules. Tough bitch, welcome to life. The hessian was an Alpha afterall, and the regal’s duties came first. What would have happened if he had gone after Kobato, though? He’d probably be sucked into another one of her childish plots and eventually end up making a fool of himself. Again. So maybe it was for the better that he ignored the petite lady. So he and Alleria went for a job around the packlands, discussing and... other things. A grin curved upon his lips as he remembered the afternoon, a doggish glint in his spheres. But as they were wrapping up he caught a whiff of something very frightening. Two new musks at the borders and there, amid the stench of testosterone, was the perfume of Kobato. She was off welcoming people now. Shit.

So the brute wasted but a second to snarl in aggravation before he was off, navigating the roots and rocks. Fortunately he was a speedy demon. Unfortunately he was on the complete opposite side of the territory. Fate just loved to lend him a hand sometimes. That’s why he didn’t believe in such foolish things as gods and spirits, devils and deities. About halfway to his goal Serris scented the air once more, raising his gray-streaked muzzle to the air in an attempt to catch what blew his way, and to his slight relief he picked up the odor of Roni, a valkyrie he had just welcomed a few suns back. Well, at least she’d try to remedy the situation. But she didn’t know Kobato. No, she didn’t know the pain of that smile or the struggle in every wiggle of her rump. The pup was a one-girl army, a group of assassins that predicted your every move and pushed you face down. He’d have to get there quick, quicker, before these two new males were seduced by that grin. He had, afterall.

The four bodies finally come into view between the windows of foliage and Serris let a mighty growl burst from his chest, a resonating boom that shook the underbrush as he entered full speed. The brute passed Roni and flew straight for the pup, not daring to stop until he was but inches from the girl’s rear. As his pillars pulled up his cranium stretched to the ground, snatching the princess by the scruff of her neck. Subtly he noticed there wasn’t as much fluff as there was the first time he’d performed the same trick, and doing such an act at such an old age was dangerous for them both, her neck and his. But nevertheless he yanked her from the comfort of the soil, his own talons digging into the brown earth trying desperately to stop his momentum. He eventually skidded to a stop with a cloud of dust in his wake, Kobato to doubt wriggling in his jaws, in happiness or pain he didn’t care. Turning to the two newcomers he let as much as a smile show as he could with the certain... limitations he had at the moment. “Excuse my tardy entrance. We’ve been having a pest problem around here and I’ve been trying to get it under control.” He managed the words even with the pup still hanging from his maw, stealing a harsh glance to the young girl as he uttered the word ‘pest’. As an afterthought he through in, “Serris, Alpha of Munashii Gekko.” The introduction wasn’t very fancy, but this wasn’t exactly a grand palace either.

He turned his skull, making eye contact with Roni and giving her a nod. He appreciated her initiative at the borders and hoped she would keep these two entertained while he slipped off to have a little conversation with a certain little girl. “Now, if you would excuse me for a moment...” he purred, shooting his Omega a glance to make sure she knew what to do. Then he turned tail and grumpily padded off, his upper spine starting to strain from the weight of the adolescent. “Say goodbye Kobato...” he half grumbled-half muttered, only loud enough for the two of them to hear. He could care less whether or not she got to say her adieus, the word just slipped from him, and somehow he knew he was going to pay for those rogue tones. Nevertheless, when they were well out of earshot Serris roughly dropped the girl, giving her a stern look she would no doubt take as a look of love. Whatever. “You know why I’m mad.” Those were the only lyrics he offered her before clenching his aqua portals, trying to gain his wits once more to go face these newcomers.
