The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

*** Jack Frost ***

They just could not have come quick enough, or so the soul of ice and snow concluded, as he waited impatiently for the first to show. It did not matter if he only had one partner in this crime, but he did need at LEAST one to complete it. Sure, sure, he could go in by himself, but that would be dangerous shit right there. He felt much more comfortable with another rustling pelt beside his. So when Carmen showed up, the phoenix that still held a bit of reality in her jowls… reality that Frost could not always stay the way he was now. And she was threatening, though probably unconsciously, to take that childhood away from his grasps like milk from a weaning pup, forcing him to starve slowly until he found another substance, of less rich material, that could take the place… but to Frost, nothing could take the place. In any case, she spoke to him with her latino tone, as Eris had pointed out, but he didn’t look back at her when she came to him. Just as long as she didn’t get too close, he would be fine.

Next to come was Karma, the mirror image that Frost had deciphered, save for the fact that their sexes were different. He was not quite sure what to think of her, and honestly… he did not even care to do that much. She was merely that mirror image and nothing else. Her chest was heaving in and out and her breath smelled absolutely delightful… she must have dropped by somewhere to pick up some sort of treat… water touched by snow? She would have to show him where that was after they completed this little endeavor. IF they completed it. Jack Frost had a feeling that even if they didn’t, he would be gone before the Abendrot soldiers even had a chance to jump in on their fun. Or he would just book it at the first sign of death hurtling towards them. A sweet voice interrupted the ice demon’s thought process. Is this some sort of test, mirror image? He looked back at her, a laugh trying to bubble to the surface… but they were too close to those borders by now… laughing aloud would be a bad idea. So he just puffed out his cheeks and let his eyes do the talking. If we can follow you all the way across Blossom Forest in the snow, we’re worthy to join you on your adventure? He snorted this time, and spoke his own lyrics, his words mimicking the sound of a cold bell as it was tolled in an empty village, long since abandoned by mere mortals. It was… strange and eerie… yet somehow comforting. The only time he had talked to them, he had been laughing and having a wonderful time in the snow that had just fallen. But this time, he was serious….

Unfortunatley, it’s not that simple. Eris need food. And I’m going to give her fresh meat, not rat’s that have been frozen in the corners. You don’t HAVE to come along, but it would fantastic if you would. He turned to the other female that had only spoken in her foreign language to him. Because of her swiftness, Carmen will be looking out for you and me as we tear that damn leg… no. Scratch that. Just grab anything you can sink your teeth into. The gullet is fine, the stomach, any organs… anything is better than nothing. Anyway, when you see someone Carmen, make any sound and we’ll all get the fuck out of there. Jack Frost now turned to face the packlands and let out a huff of breath again, waiting just a mere second before he got up and said his last few words to the duo of femmes. Alright ladies. Let’s get this over with. If you get caught, I’m not coming back for you. You’re on your own… and I know, the same probably goes for me. Let’s go! And now, he was flying atop the snow drift, hurtling soundlessly into the territory ruled by a King with scars in places he probably didn’t even know he could have scars at.

But it was not fear that accompanied the young soldier as the winter wind slapped his palette, telling him to go back. Good… they were downwind of their enemies… and he could smell that dead deer even now. His white pelt helped to disguise him as he danced elegantly through numerous bushes and passed a den that was filled with the stench of blood and herbs. Whatever that was all about, he didn’t know, or care to know, for that matter, but he stepped around that one, giving it a wide berth, before continuing on. The deer… he couldn’t even tell if it was a bull or doe. Its head had been completely severed off of its spinal hinges, and the stomach was already open. The smell, although absolutely horrid, hinted at a cloak for their arrival for a while, and Jack instantly began tearing away at the contents of the abdomen, not caring if the girls had not made it there yet. At first, the carcass did not wish to give way to another who had not taken part in killing it… but finally, the white joker hit a vein and blood bursted out onto his palette, covering his dial with wet, sticky, hot crimson fluid. Most likely, the pack had killed this a week or two back. Bringing it down had probably been a major accomplishment (or not, considering the fact that they were soldiers anyway), but judging by the size of its stomach… it had probably been a doe with a baby in her, or a bull with a big amount of venison resting on its thigh.

Frost slipped his mug inside the opened stomach of the venison and began ripping and tearing at anything he could get his paws and incisors onto. The lungs were the first thing he touched. Surprisingly… they were still warm. The stretchy tissue wouldn’t budge for minutes on end… and with each passing second, the trio would grow closer to their own demise. A sharp yank of the head and the first lung was free of its leathery grasp. He knew that the organs didn’t have much of anything good on them, but they were still edible nonetheless... Next came the inner calves on the back leg. This one was easier to tear off than the lung had been, but it still took him a bit of time to get the meat to dislocate itself from the hind. After he had finished, with a good sized piece of meat in his mug, he set it down and tossed the lung over his shoulder towards Carmen, should she be there, and then turned to see what Karma was working on and if she needed any help with it. He picked back up his prize that he’d gained from the inner thigh… if Karma was struggling, he would put in his services to help whatever she was trying to get at, only using his claws though, for he did not wish to lose that piece of meat to crows, or anything else that might be lingering nearby… like Abendrot bullies. He knew that they would be arriving soon. And they wouldn’t be very happy to find that someone else was sharing in on their meal.
