Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Virago had been a lucky girl. She was the one in the jaws of her capable mother when the world had come crashing down upon them. She had no memories of her siblings, or her father, all who had been lost in the burning. Perhaps it had been a fast death or a quick one, but in the end, it didn't mean anything to her. Why should she mourn for a lifestyle she never truly experienced in a world that she had no memories from? She had been chosen by her mother and that was enough for her. She had inherited the lackadaisical attitude that both her mother and father had towards the world. She was alive. She was healthy and she was old enough to have adventures.

The little charcoal black creature slid through the tall grasses that littered the ridge of the crater. She had been down this side a few times, and was currently on the hunt for a rabbit. Then she and her mother would have some dinner tonight. It had been a few days since they last ate a real meal and Virago knew rabbits were Harridan's favorite. She moved swiftly. Though she was not the biggest or the tallest of the wolves that lived here. She was fast, long lean muscles painted onto her inky carcass. The waif moved quickly at a brisk trot. Every once in awhile she would pause mid-stride to listen to the winds as they blew against the grass and scent the air for a hot trail. And yet, today, today she was drawing up short. Today, there was no fresh rabbits scents in the tall grasses. She licked her lips and the bright pink eyes scanned the green grass sea.

It's only then that a lonesome howl echoes through the air. It's dulled since she was deaf in a ear, but it didn't mean that the remaining was damaged. She turned to face the sign, seeing only a the tip of a white muzzle, which disappeared and then found ears to match. She quickly headed in his direction. Curiosity was incurable and she had to know who he was calling for. Mother had said that no packs had been developed in a long time. That the falling star had destroyed any society that was still remaining. Still, Virago had wondered what it would be like to have a pack to rely on. She basically snuck on him, making no indications of her approach and not really bothering to conceal herself. After all, the tall grasses would conceal them enough and Virago had temporarily given up on catching dinner.

Suddenly she was in front of him, and she immediately sat down, her tail instinctively curling around her feet. Her head tilted a little to the side, to keep her good ear closer to Seraphiel than anything else. "So...who are you calling for?" The charcoal female watches him quietly, trying her hardest to be polite and friendly. Virago was known to be quite trying or at least Harridan was fond of telling her daughter that. She supposed it was because of her curiosity, or her never ending questions or the fact that she spoke her mind plainly. Pink eyes watch beneath the brow of black and tried to wait patiently for the answer as she shifted her weight back and forth on her front paws.
