Painful Stillness
IP: 24.62.130.249

Talia let out a huff as Shadow knocked her aside and pinned her down. She wasn't still for a moment, struggling even as his teeth met her scruff and effectively stilled her wriggling. She growled with frustration, her heart beating with a sudden rush of panic as she realized she could die.
Shadow snarled threats in her ear and started dragging her toward the trees. She took the opportunity to make it difficult for him, lying completely still or twisting suddenly. Her thoughts were full of fear but she kept trying to fight.
Then Shadow's teeth left her fur and she heard Blaze call out a warning. She was knocked aside again and watched with shock as Blaze came to her rescue. The two brothers fought and he told her to go in between tearing at his brother. Talia's heart ached, but she gave Blaze one last wide eyed look filled with worry before vanishing. She couldn't get herself killed or her pups would die.
She couldn't sit still. She pricked her ears constantly, trying to catch the sounds of battle, but she was too far away. She paced back and forth across the soft earth of the riverbank, too worried to even think straight. She glanced up at the sun often, both hoping sunhigh would and wouldn't come soon. Maybe Blaze was already dead. She almost let out a whimper at the idea.
Then Blaze staggered out of the trees and Talia practically flew over to him, her hazel eyes warmed with concern. She touched noses with him, relieved he was okay. She saw the blood on his coat and realized his brother must be dead. She felt regret, wondering if he could ever have been changed.
"Are you okay? I thought..." She trailed off, realizing she was standing rather close.
