The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

The meeting had been a flood of emotions and a variety of characters had shown the briefest shades of their true colors to the young lady who had ridden out the roller coaster ride with much concealed glee. She wouldn't claim to have triumphed over all of the inhabitants she had so welcomed into her lands, even if some of them proved to be beyond sketchy. The entire Russian family who had appeared, all siblings with a dark undercurrent to their presence, made Cade vaguely nervous. She refused to acknowledge the feeling despite its nagging pull, niggling at the back of her mind with the intensity of its forces ebbing and flowing like her moods. Without realizing it, the crimson and white hued queen had begun a troubled pacing, trampling the grass in a straight line of eight feet, spinning on her heels as she reached the end of the line so that the line never curved. Unsure of when she had allowed her thoughts to become so pensive as to land her in an aggravated pace, she abruptly stopped moving and threw herself down on the ground with an exasperated sigh. Her thoughts about the vampires who had moved in recently was not the only thing weighing on her young mind. She knew her brother Quirino had merely refrained from opening a can of family hashing in front of the other pack members. The royal gal had to admit that her sibling had grown up some too considering how quiet he had managed to keep his thoughts during their public meeting.

Cade succumbed to the thoughts, allowing the whirlwind of ensuing thoughts and emotions to fling her about. Her inner turmoil consisted of a mixture of anger, relief, disappointment, and the tiniest specks of fear attacking her like dirt caught up in the harsh swirling air. Ever so slowly the torrent died down as Cade began to reason through her feelings. She managed to dull them back into their corners, reducing her to a tired lump of wolf lying in the grass. Mismatched eyes glancing about, the ess decided that no one was near enough for her to worry. Her skull rested on her paws and she lulled herself to sleep with some quiet humming. Somewhere amid the simmering thoughts, one boldly managed to grab her attention. It was more of a curiosity, a wondering about what had happened to the handsome brute she had enticed to follow her home. It seemed he hadn't come after all, making her feel foolish and regretful since she had allowed herself to break one of her family's cardinal laws. She'd left her own blood for a male who was now proving that he hadn't actually loved her. Either that or he had gotten lost along the way, in which case, he wasn't good enough for her anyway. Her family was well trained in tracking. It was necessary to be an efficient killer. Pushing the unanswered wonder away, the weariness set in but Cade simply couldn't close her eyes and keep them closed. Something hovered at the edge of her senses, feeling for all the world as if someone was watching her. Who or why, she didn't know. But she closed her eyes with the intention of catching whoever might be lurking if they should so easily fall for the oldest of tricks.
