Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Return to Lunar Children

Every night I will save your life

An owl hooted on a low branch as the moonlight glowed down from the heavens above. The millions of stars paled in comparison to her soft light. She lit up the world as it slept and provided enough light for those who lived in her sight. Iblis was one of those creatures. The male wolf made his way towards the Eastern side of the giant hole that now made up most of Moladion. As a loner, Iblis knew it was best to move all the time, never stay in the same place longer than needed to ensure your survival. Was travelling at night the best way to do it? Probably not, but Iblis loved the night and choose to spend his time as a son of the Moon. The warrior had come to the east on the prowl for a killer. He had learned that there were wolves within the land who hunted and ate other wolves. The very thought made Iblis' stomach churn in disgust and he had made it a goal to find these horrible monsters and end their lives the way they had ended so many others. Why would he do such a thing? Honor? Glory? Perhaps.

No, Iblis did it for the good of others. As the noble knight he always thought he was it was up to him to protect the lives of the weak and sick. Who else would? There were wolves who lived within packs who were aged or unable to carry out their daily duties because of illness who had their families to protect them. But what about those like him, who could not fight or defend themselves? Who would save them? Iblis had taken it upon himself to be that hero. And maybe it was because he also enjoyed the thrill of the fight too. Iblis was a smaller wolf and it always made him glow with pride when he won a fight against a bigger foe. What he lacked in size, he made up for in speed and courage.

The owl saw the wolf approaching and took to the sky. She knew the beast could never get to her in the tree but it was always better to be safe than sorry. Liquid brown eyes gazed up at the silent owl and Iblis realized for the first time that he was hungry. His stomach gave a wild roar that surely woke every beast around and warned them of his presence. With his nose in the air, Iblis took a deep breath to see how many smells he could detect and was not surprised when hardly anything came to him. A herd of elk had passed by here earlier, but there was no way he could take one for himself. Even a baby elk would be a challenge as it was sure to be bigger than him. What else was there? A rabbit? No. A badger? Not a chance. Well, the night was going to end soon and more animals were sure to rise with the sun. Perhaps he could wait until then. For now, Iblis moved along his way, keeping a sharp eye out for anyone he might meet this night. Be in friend or foe.
