Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

the sun was warm and the soil was dry. it was a very lazy morning, and the wolf who had taken shelter for the night beneath the cover of a great white pine thought so as well. he had not stirred since he had woken up with the sun, for his position gave him the prime spot to soak up the early morning rays. the golden sunshine felt simply superb against his pelt, warming the greys and toffees and cremes to his hearts content. tod had no idea where he was as opposed to the name of the place, but he didn't particularly care, either. the boy was a nomad, and yet not, simply wandering until something might grasp him and never release him. but thus far in his few short years of life, he hasn't come to a place nor met another who could do so for him, and so he had simply continued on his way. he was never one to complain, but rather, he was laid back and seemed to not have a care in the world. he came and went as he pleased, though showing respect when respect was due, of course. and this was a morning where tod felt in no rush at all, not eager to get up and begin his day, and more than happy to lounge about and relax as much as he could. the sun truly did feel quite lovely at this time of day.

and then a bunny ran by. no, not a bunny- millions of bunnies. they were all sprinting for their lives, away from some unknown terror. that is, until tod glanced to his left and sprung back on lithe limbs just as the first wolf shot passed him. things did not normally catch him by surprise, but he felt his heart beating hard and fast and his breath coming in uneven gulps. he must have dozed off without realising it and silently cursed himself for not being more aware of his surroundings. and yet all the while, more and more wolves zoomed past him, all hot on the tails of the little bunnies that ran as if their lives depended on it. and, quite frankly- they did.

and then his hunger struck him. he hadn't eaten and days, and the sensation of his stomach rumbling in hunger was enough to calm him and put his nerves back where they belong. stretching his body languidly but effectively, he then launched from his current spot after the parading wolves and bunnies, only veering off to the right- in hopes of cutting them off.
