aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Kalgalath’s icy gaze noticed Magic’s rise in energy as Kong asked for other wolves to step forward and present their nomination for the position of alpha. Could she and her mate possibly want the position of alpha as well? It was strange indeed, for two wolves so newly accepted to set their aim so high in the pack, but Kal found it respectable. Setting goals meant that they had respect for themselves, and setting such high goals meant that the pair of them were strong lupines. Indeed, they would be a wonderful addition to the Aurora Borealis pack. But Kalgalath found himself wondering if they would voice their desire? The grey brute himself had felt a bit uncomfortable voicing his nomination to his friend King Kong, asking for his thoughts before allowing it to be known to his pack mates. It was only Zig’s exceptional hearing that publicized Kal’s wish to be nominated prematurely. Kalgalath was new and was only intimately known by Kong – in fact, prior to this pack meeting he had only been known by Kong. But it was public knowledge know – he was running for the position of Alpha.

Kalgalath didn’t want to be disrespectful to the older members of the pack, being so new himself, and knew that there would be opposition from them. Zig had already made her sentiments known – she was uncomfortable with the idea of Kalgalath becoming the new alpha. Surely some of the other members felt the way. The brute was glad that there would be a pack vote. So that all would feel comfortable to make their sentiments known. Whoever the pack wanted would pull ahead and succeed with the new position of Alpha. But Magic remained silent and spoke not at all. Perhaps I was wrong about her.. Kalgalath thought to himself.

Upon the arrival of Saw Tooth’s ambassador, she did not introduce herself or her mate to the ranked femme, but instead addressed the entire pack, expressing her wish to be put forth as nominations for the role of Alphas. She then apologized to Kalgalath: Not to put competition on your claim, Kal, but we would like to see what personalities this pack has given us under a new light… Kal smiled at her politeness and he dipped his head in acknowledgement of her words. His orbs focused upon her amber visionaries, and responded in full.

On the contrary, Magic, I welcome the competition. This pack, this terra, is what I consider to be my home, and I believe that whoever the pack votes to take over the position of Alpha will be the best contender and ultimately will be the savior of the pack. In order for the perfect leader to be found, whichever lupine that may be, there has to be many different contenders. We have to work as a pack if we want to put the pack back together. I offered forward myself as a nominee for the position in the hopes that I may be that wolf. Should you and your mate be the right wolves for the job, then I will support you both.” Kalgalath fell silent, feeling that he had expressed his feelings fully and truly.

A faint smile lingered upon his maw as his orb’s focus shifted between Magic and Glitch. A gut feeling told him that they would become close friends of his eventually. He admired Magic’s spunk and Glitch’s attitude about life. Should they be voted into the Alpha position, Magic would have to do all of the fighting due to Glitch’s physical disabilities. He had the heart, but his body didn’t give him the support that he deserved. Although, Kalgalath thought, should they get voted in and prove to be good Alphas, their underlings would most likely offer to fight in their place, should it be required.

It was because of that reason that Kal wanted to be alpha, and because of that reason that he considered this place home. This was his family, and once they healed, they would all live together, fight together, and survive together. They would be one functional unit and would support each other to the end.
