aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

A meal...[Tyson and Magic]

The brute’s pads landed silently and slowly upon the cold ground. The night air had chilled the earth, and with the sun just peaking over the horizon, it had not had the chance to warm up as of yet. The brute glanced silently to the young pup that travelled with him – the one that was mostly skin and bone. The sight was a disturbing one, and Kal was glad that Magic had decided to hunt just at that time and had agreed to share her meal with the pup. As they neared the clearing, the metallic scent of blood filled his nares and he felt a faint pang of hunger in his own stomach. But he was in good health, he could wait to eat. The little, albeit feisty, one could not.

The path to clearing was well worn, originally having been a herd path for the caribou and other prey animals that used to be so abundant in the area. Every once in a while they were still seen, but no one hunted here, just in case famine came or a disease hit the abundant stock at Prey Plateau. By leaving the prey animals here untouched, it was their own safeguard against famine.

The brute’s tail wagged slightly as they neared the clearing and he glanced at the pup again. “We are almost there, Tyson. Just a few more minutes of walking.” Kalgalath had considered picking the pup up by the scruff and carrying him there. It would have gotten the pup there quicker, and a meal into him sooner, but Kal dared not do such a thing. It would have been his right to do it, as Alpha, but he had promised the pup that he would not have to change, and Kal imagined that it would have greatly offended the little one to be scruffed like a newborn. And so he traveled with a slow, short stride that felt abnormal to him so that it would not be difficult for Tyson to keep up with his tempo.

The light of the sun was getting brighter, surely, bit by bit rising up into the sky – it was a bright orange color, the sky painted by its rays. He could see bits and pieces of the sun as they neared the clearing, for the dense fir forest was gradually thinning out, until the trees ceased to exist. Kalgalath had to pause, his pupils constricting by the sudden brightness that raped his sight. As they adjusted, the clearing came into the focus; the short grass crisped by the night, the boulder in the center where Magic had stood just a few hours before, the various patches of thick blossoms…

Kalgalath lifted his nares to the sky, enjoying the scents around him. There was nothing like smelling the melting dew of a sunrise mixed with the scent of a recent kill. His orbs glanced around, searching for the fae who had killed the prey, who had promised to share her meal with the anorexic pup. She had said that she would meet him here when dawn broke, but knowing her preference for the night, his orbs scanned at the edge of the meadow, looking for the ebony fae.
