At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Things had been rough for Channing since the first meeting of her love and her son. Terrel had exploded like a time bomb in their faces and had disappeared from the face of the earth. Channing had tried her dammed hardest to find him, however there was no luck. Instead the timber ess had wandered to Misty Mountain with her mate. Many things had unfolded that afternoon and plans had been set for the future, the lass just needed to make things right with her adopted son before the plans could be put into motion. Not long after Henadin had cheered her up, the ess had set off on her quest to Cold Summers, where she had met up with Buck and been allowed access into the neighbouring pack. It had been a somewhat nerve racking and awkward experience, but an experience none the less and they had managed to gather a little bit more knowledge about Cold Summers before they had left. Now the femme was on a quest all of her own, a quest to find her son.

The elegant timber ess did not stop once on the way to her destination. She knew exactly where she was going and nothing was going to stop her. Thoughts of what she was going to say to her son, when she found him, buzzed round her mind as the crows flew high following any animal that would provide them with their next meal. Unfortunately, Channing was not about to go hunting- she was looking for something completely different. She dodged fallen obstacles and tracked down the path she had followed so many times before. The path to Staircase Falls.

Channing knew that this was exactly where Terrel would be. The falls held so many memories for the pair and would no doubt have offered him some comfort in the difficult time he had found himself in. Although it was not just him who was being troubled by the whole experience. It had caused many problems for Channing and Henadin too. So this was why she was going to the staircase, to make things right with Terrel in order for all of them to move on without disagreements. The femme knew that even with her and her son on good terms, things would still be rocky between the two boys. It would be even worse when he found out that the pair planned on starting a family. Terrel was sure to be upset that his mother was planning on bearing pups for the male he hated but he would have to live with it or... Well, he would separate himself from the family forever.

Rushing water could be heard for miles, and assured the ess that she was nearly at her destination. The smell of other wolves made it difficult for her to decipher her son’s scent but she was sure he would be here. If not she would find him some other time, but things need sorting and fast. The thought of loosing either Terrel or Henadin made the girl feel sick but it would be her son’s own stubborn fault if her chose to lose his mother. She would welcome him with open arms and it would be him, and only him that would decide whether to embrace her or to walk away. With a clear script set up in her mind, the vixen found herself at the foot of the staircase in which she first met her son. The reassuring sound of trickling water calmed the lass’ nerves and she began to climb the slippery steps of the falls. Her memories made it easy for her to re-track the exact place she had first met her son and with one final leap she made it.
Terrel unfortunately wasn’t present at that time and the ess sighed slightly. He was sure to be around somewhere, no doubt hiding from her in order to stall the argument that would probably arise. The angel sat on the ledge curling her plumage round her paws. She would not be angry at her son for his outburst, it had been expected however she would be stern with him and let him know how disappointed she was with the way he had spoken to Henadin. Taking one final deep breath, the ess opened her maw. He voice was calm yet stern and was loud enough for her AWOL son to hear. She said one simple word and that would be all she would say for now. What that word was: ”Terrel?”
