At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Zorion was having trouble keeping his head above water. The current caused by the falls was strong – too strong for a pup. And the water was frigid. His entire bodice was stripped of its heat, and in addition to him paddling to keep his nares above the water’s surface, he now also had to battle the shivers that wrecked havoc on his body. As he cried for help, a wave of water entered his maw and he started coughing violently, his lungs drowning due to the sudden water intake. Suddenly, a splash rang out in his audettes, and the pup caught a glimpse of another wolf in the rushing cascades. She swam through the strong current with ease toward Zorion. As her neck and cranium reached toward him, he felt strong jaws clamp upon his scruff and start tugging him toward shore. The entire time, the little pup coughed violently, trying to uphurl the water that flooded his lungs. Finally, the pair exited the strong water and the fae plopped Zorion on the ground. While the shivers shook his body, he felt a warm, harsh tongue running its way across his pelt, and slowly, his shivers subsided.

Are you alright, little one? Her vocals sounded like that of the angels, and for a minute, the pup thought that she WAS an angel – his guardian angel. She had saved him, after all, from certain death. The pup remained silent until his chills were completely gone. The pup’s striped face turned toward the fae that loomed above him, his muddy eyes gazing at her with awe. Though still chilled, the pup was warm enough to function properly, and he would surely not get sick now. As he stared at her, the sunlight shone directly behind her, making it look like the fae was glowing. The pup opened his greyed maw to let loose his tiny, high-pitched vocals. “Thank you miss, for saving me. Are… are you an angel?” The pup stuttered – though he was thankful that she had saved him and that he was alive, she towered over him, as any adult fae would, and if she was an angel, the pup could not even begin to imagine what powers she may possess. Still, Zorion spoke a few more words to her, knowing that it was only polite. “My name is Zorion miss… I was chasing a butterfly. I saw it in Adoption Meadows first… I had travelled there hoping to get adopted but everyone just ignored me and so I left.” The pup paused, his orbs tearing him. Each of his front paws rubbed violently at his face, trying to rid himself of the tears before the fae saw them.

Then I chased it to the Blossom Fields and met a friend named Winter, but then it flew here. It was so pretty…I tried to catch it but I ended up leaping into the water instead of onto it. ” The pup sighed, knowing that his large paws had contributed to his clumsiness. Though they were a sign that he would grow into a large wolf once he was an adult, they were only a menace for now. Still looking at the fae, he fell silent, waiting for the angel to speak.
