aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

The grey and russet fae shrank in his presence and began to shake furiously. Whether it was due to his gaze or his words, the Alpha didn’t know, but he wouldn’t back down until she had done as he had asked. While awaiting her response, he glanced toward the other brujo – he seemed to be affected by Kalgalath’s presence as well, and Kalgalath wondered whether he should turn down his stiff stance down a notch. He had never thought of himself as a scary wolf, but apparently when there was an entire pack depending on him, he became a different wolf.

Finally the fae spoke, and Kalgalath remained standing in his stiff stance throughout the entirety of his monologue. My name is Hellene, Lord. The pack you are smelling is that of Spring Grounds. The whole truth is that I joined there with my sister – it was my sister’s idea. She would rather live within a pack than as a lone duo, just her and I. But she went off on her own adventures, and I found myself utterly alone. Just one wolf bothered to speak with me. And so, I left. I cannot be alone for life. I am not a loner. I need a place to belong. My purpose here is to see if it is here that I belong. I seek to join your pack. Accept me, and I will be loyal to you and yours. To be honest, I made that same promise to Spring Grounds, so you have no reason to believe my promise. But they gave me no loyalty. They cared naught for me. I wish them no ill-will, especially since my sister still calls that place home. But it is not my home. I have no home. Kalgalath remained quiet for a few moments, thinking about all that she had said. He decided first and foremost not to trust her for a long while – she had made promises to another wolf pack and yet had left them… or had she? There was the chance that she was a spy coming for them, or that she simply was an unreliable lupine. However, if all that she had said was true, then the fae had been brutally honest and had not tried to hide her past. And if she truly wished to call Aurora Borealis her new home, Kalgalath would give her a chance, but with a short leash.

Before he could speak his thoughts and demands to Hellene, another scent entered his nares and the brute turned sharply to see Leila just as she began to speak. I’m Leila, what’s your name? I’m sowry; I’m not sure who you are either..?I’m not the most observant of wolves. Kalgalath’s glaring gaze settled upon her, irritated to have been interrupted in the middle of dealing with the alien fae. His gaze softened almost immediately, his eyes begging her forgiveness. The titan was tired from remarking the entire packland, and his blood was running on the hot end, hence his quick temper. Kalgalath knew that Leila would forgive him his angry gaze – she was one of his closest friends. Her vocals continued on once more. So, you’re here to join?

Kalgalath turned his gaze back to the fae, not having the energy to return to his icy gaze. His stance however, was still commanding. “Hellene, I will grant you admission to this pack as a member. Know, and beware, that you have none of my trust. Your past is troubling, especially with you arriving at my border with another scent still upon your pelt. Be a good pack member and contribute, and you shall earn my trust in time. Betray us, and you shall have a real reason to quake when I approach.” His words were, perhaps, a bit harsh, but she needed to know that he would not put with pack jumping, nor would he allow her to survive a betrayal by her hand. As he turned to leave, his weary eyes laid upon Chiron and then Leila. “Would one of you show her around the pack lands? A quick tour will do just fine. It smells like rain, and I would hate for either of you to catch a cold, especially with the nights becoming brisker.” His icy gaze glanced upward and saw the sliver of the sun that was still left upon the horizon, and he smiled, his paws leading him away from the boundary and toward his den for some much needed sleep.
