My c o l d desire
to hear the boom, boom,
b o o m of your heart
Winter was here, and Tess had wasted no time claiming what was his. What had always been his. What will always be his. As such, she came out of season quickly, and with the change she thought for sure that she would have pups on the ground come the spring. She traipsed through the snow, relatively content though she knew that they would need to have some sort of pack to raise them in. Even if it wasn't a proper pack, they would need more than just each other to raise a litter. She thought back to the days of her childhood in Trenus when there had been so many potential playmates and there were eyes always watching pups regardless of who they belonged to. She had spent the day looking for new den sights, trying to decide which would be the one that she took refuge in. As always, Caligula was never much for fun and games, but she had creatures other than herself and Tess to consider now. Or at least, she was pretty confident that she did. It was early, and she did not show any real indication of pregnancy.
She backed out of a potential den, deeming it far too small and watches the landscape of the forest through her mismatched eyes. The light had faded and she knew if she didn't return to their den soon, Tesseract would be all sorts of agitated and come looking for her. He worried so much about her. Still, the night air was cool, and the snow that crunched beneath her paws made her feel more alive. Caligula watched the forest with keen eyes, her mostly black and russet coat lent itself easily to the darkness but there was that white patch that rose over her shoulders gave her away. Winter was not her time to hide in shadows and be unseen. The snow always gave her away.
Her clever nose scents someone in the air, and she lifts her head to get a better sense of where it was coming from. She then follows slowly from a distance. Even for a loner, she did not seem familiar. Caligula made it her business to at least recognize most of the wolves that resided in the crater. She did not have any lingering scents of any of the packs, but didn't exactly smell of the crater either. She closed the distance between them stalking her like she might be prey but the only satisfaction that Caligula would get would be to quench her curiosity. Contrary to what most Angel's believed, Caligula did not eat the wolves she killed or attacked. Sure, she tasted their blood but it did not incite any sort of bloodlust.
In her curiosity, she doesn't take her usual precautions to remain quiet. When a branch underneath the snow snaps loudly, she stops and composes herself. Her head tilts slightly to the left as she considers Roach. The mute wolfess does not consider her a threat demonstrated by her easy posture and the soft, brief wag of her tail. Roach was certainly an interesting looking wolf. She was bulkier even than Caligula but significantly shorter. Interesting. Caligula figured that the snapped branch would be more than enough for the other wolf to notice her. If not, she'd have to do something more...decisive.
