Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

His mind was elsewhere still the scent of his Spirane friend drawing near did not escape him, though he couldn’t be sure why she was coming during the day time. The idea of Ceal coming to see him again just was strange, perhaps she had gotten word of the war? Being a child of the Alphas of Spirane, allies to Diveen surely didn’t hurt the odds that maybe she had. He mused on her and their random meetings, they were secret for her, but to him they were just going out, nothing suspicious and if someone did find out he had been seeing her, they wouldn’t care. He certainly counted her a friend like Vega, but she was different somehow than Vega. She was like a little sister, he watched out for her, but Ceal. He didn’t know what she was, she was confusing that was for sure.

Meryl grabbed several of the Aloe plants and tossed them into the pelt bag whilst thinking of just what they were, just friends really, certainly not imprints though like all girls his age and older she had been treated with the terrified face to dirt, leaves, tree, whatever he could hide his face in when they first met. But she had eventually gotten him to look, just as Khaleesi had, but at least she was much more pleasant and fun than that particular girl.

He wished he could bring himself to smile when she called to him, but the situation kept him from doing so. Turning his chocolate and sky blue flecked eyes to her, he was still looking very unlike himself. Subdued, quiet, though determined. It was the worker side that his friend had yet to see of him, the duty bound side that knew he had to ignore his wants for the best of his home and the members. Isola was counting on him. She had said that when he was promoted. Did Ceal know he was promoted? Oh how he wished he could have shared that at a better time with her. He was no longer the medic in training when they had first met, but a fully fledged Healer of Diveen. Promoted, just a few short weeks ago by the Queen herself, well sort of Solaris was the one who did the official promotion speech, but Isola was there.

She moved up to him, but it wasn’t in her usual bouncy-energetic form, she knew something was wrong with him, and it only made him feel guiltier. What caught him off guard was the touch, the lock of her pink eyes onto his chocolate and sky. He tensed up visibly, knowing that unlike Vega, she would feel the fear that he just had with all girls. Meryl again felt bad, she wasn’t his imprint he didn’t have to worry. She was two, he was two if they were imprints it would have happened, right? Though part of him felt, it wouldn’t be so bad being Ceal’s imprint, he might actually have liked that. Something else to feel bad about, his soul didn’t want hers, did his heart feel otherwise? Emotions were confusing.

”C-Ceal.” The boy stammered, though his voice was not the usual cheery tone, but more monotone, and lacking the great amount of surprise that he normally would have. He was a bit emotionally drained, and her being her, he wasn’t sure if it would help. He pulled away, looking to the sack with the freshly gathered aloe vera.

”It’s day, you won’t get in trouble for sneaking out will you?” He asked worried for the girl whom he had met several months ago. He would go to Spirane, and really he had been planning on it to do some herb research there as well as visit her. They surely wouldn’t mind a healer to be training with a Diveen healer he thought. Still she was here, perhaps this was a good thing, and perhaps she could help him with more than just gathering herbs.
