Alana listened carefully as the new alpha named his family. Perhaps he would not be so bad, then, if he had a child and a mate who were both willing to stand on his side. He was not as domineering as Silvertongue had been, and she appreciated that in all honesty. She had more respect for an alpha who could hold his position with words rather than with archaic posturing. But then again, her first impression of that male had been a positive one too. Shaking her head slightly, she wrenched her mind from that thought. She wouldn't think about it. She couldn't.
Alana’s heart dropped when he stated that Rhoedias had left Glorall. Noel must have gone with her. It was only right, after all, as she and Silvertongue had adopted him. Still, she would miss the puppy. He had been her almost constant shadow. She would have to find them at some point in the future. Hopefully they had not left these lands completely and were only finding shelter in one of the other packs or in the freelands. If they had left completely, then Alana would never be able to find them again. Though it was for the best that Noel was gone. She wouldn't be able to hide from him. He was far too perceptive for one so young. He would certainly notice the changes in her. She had. Her stomach felt too tight, despite being bruised and torn from what had happened. She should have known. She should have never left Glorall. And then to catch his sent here... Alana shrunk into herself slightly, her small frame appearing even smaller than usual whenever Tesseract met her gaze.
Her grey brow furrowed slightly as Tesseract said he would meet with them all individually. This was strange, something that none of the alphas thus far had done. Fear lingered in the corner of her mind. He already has a mate. He doesn't want you. It was as though she had to keep up a constant monologue of reassurances. Then again, perhaps meeting with Tesseract would be for the best. Alana had not been dissatisfied with her past placement as nurse, but she did not feel as though it was her strength. She had no experience with children and indeed did not really know what to do with them. Well, other than Noel, but that pup was different. Perhaps it was finding him on the beach half-dead that had forged some bond. Either that, or he had simply not been very puppy-like, forced to age too early from his hard past. Still, he was the only child that she had any idea what to do with. It was one of the reasons she did not have children last spring, nor did she intend to come this one. It seemed as though she would have to learn though.
Alana met Tesseract's gaze as he smiled at her, nodding as respectfully to him as he had to her, though all of her muscles were so tense they were just short of shaking. He was the alpha, of course she would walk with him if he wished. She was still suspicious, feeling especially unsettled by the lack of old members of Glorall here. And the thought that he could be anywhere. She had caught his scent on the borders as she wanderedt his morning. Had Tesseract allowed him in? This must have been how her mother felt, why she had always kept them on the move. Had this exact thing happened to her mother? Her early life made so much more sense now. Oh Mother, I wish you were still here. I wish I had listened to you... Still, she had no reason to leave. Not yet at least. Not until she knew if he really was here. She knew very little of the other packs in these lands and there was definite safety in the devil you know, so to speak.
She followed him as he headed toward the ocean, her tail tucked firmly between her legs, as it had been since her encounter. She felt quite small, as usual, next to the large male. She appreciated the fact that he had asked to walk along the ocean. She had always found the water calming and spent most of her time around it. She did not speak, simply waiting for him to speak. He obviously had some reason for asking her here, though she could not fathom why. Perhaps he had guessed what had happened to her. It was not so difficult to figure out.
She should have known.
