Only You Are the Life Among the Dead  |
_________________________________________________________________________ Being out and alone was a lot scarier than Khaleesi had anticipated. The adventure was fun at first, but now she wanted her mom and brother. She wished she had someone that would go on adventures with her, it would be a lot more fun if Destan was there but she knew how scared of the world he was and that he would never go exploring with her. She was just happy that he was so comfortable with mom and that they were all a family now. Being the young pup she was, Khaleesi was paying little attention to her surroundings as she wandered around the cave. The dark was a scary place and she much preferred outside in the sun. She knew there was no one around so she didn’t act brave like she usually did when she was around other wolves. The pup was very surprised when she suddenly felt someone come up and pick her up by her scruff, something she didn’t remember every experiencing. An act that would normal comfort a pup terrified her instantly. When she was first picked up by the stranger she froze, fear immobilizing her and a yelp escaped her maw. She didn’t recognize the smell that was coming off of the stranger and she had no idea who it was that she had encountered. As he walked her through the caves she overcame her initial terror and she started struggling to get away. She was still too small to be able to escape his powerful grip but she started putting up a fight, an unthreatening weak growl escaping her maw. She kicked her little legs and wiggled around, trying to pry herself loose from his jaws. She had no luck though as the brute carried her deeper into the darkness until he finally put her down in a small circle of light that was coming in from a hole in the ceiling. Khaleesi didn’t want to appear scared in front of the stranger and wanted to show him that she was tough so as soon as he dropped her she stood up, shaking her ruffled pelt. The dark brute kept himself hidden in the shadows, the only thing showing were his blue eyes. The fact that she couldn’t see him scared the small pup, but she refused to show her fear to the stranger. Before Khaleesi had a chance to act the brute spoke, "Listen up. I'm not going to hurt you. I need you to get someone back from your pack, someone who was taken from me. You're my ticket so don't try anything stupid and we'll get along fine. I'll have you back to your family in no time. I just need a promise of your cooperation." What did he mean needed someone from the pack, who could he need? If he needed to see someone couldn’t he just come and visit the pack, it’s not like her pack was mean or anything like that. Khaleesi had no idea what he was talking about but she didn’t have a good feeling about this brute. He had scared her when he could have just said hello and asked for her help. The pup would have been more than happy to help bring him to her pack and visit someone, but he had been mean and was trying to scare her so she didn’t like him. The white pup didn’t want to stay around this wolf for another second, she wanted to run back home and find her mom. Khaleesi growled, showing her little teeth to the stranger as she stood, her fur rising and making her fluffy pelt stand on edge. She knew there was no way that she could fight an adult wolf, he could kill her in a heartbeat. The only other option she could think of would be to run. Without another thought Khalessi ran away from the brute. She ran in the direction that they came from, hoping she would be able to find her way out and escape into the forest. She was fast and ran between rocks through the caves, hoping that her quick escape would throw the brute off guard and she could get a head start. The young femme ran as fast as she could, panting heavily, trying to put distance between herself and the scary stranger. ________________________________________________________________________ |
