Sin yelped in surprise when a beast came around the corner! He pranced away slightly before he paused. His puppy chest expanded and contracted in short, fast breaths a moment while he observed what had come so suddenly around the dead tree. His ears were perked forwards in alarm until he realized only a moment later that it was a female wolf that was a part of Glorall. Or at least, he thought she still was. He wasn’t aware that there was a new pack being set up in the woodlands across Moladion.
After recognizing her - Everchime, he had heard her be called once or twice - his tail waved and he bent his head to roll some strange looking ball back into the parcel she was carrying. His ears flicked at her the strange configuration of words she muttered to herself. Since he was still learning the common language, it was hard for him to understand what she had told herself, but since it was for her own ears, he figured it wasn’t all too big of a deal if he pretended he hadn’t heard them.
He nudged the brown ball gently with his nose until it was back in it’s rightful spot on her parcel. He backed away to give her the proper amount of space between two acquaintances. “No problem, Everchime,” he barked pleasantly. His voice was still high since he was only a year old, but it was starting to sound more male-like than when he had been a fuzzball growing up. He was very proud of his developing vocal cords, and it showed by him standing with his still narrow chest puffed out slightly.
It then stuck him, however, that the scent he had been following was strongest here. He was distracted and lifted his nose, it twitched had he took short, sharp inhales. His head weaved until it was outstretched towards Everchime. Sinclair’s eyes wided in realization. He had been tracking her?! Ridiculous! Well… the scent had been familiar to him. But one would think he was recognize wolf scent from prey scent! Sinclair frowned. He obviously needed lessons in tracking and in hunting.
“Sorry,” Sinclair apologized when he realized what an awkward pause he must have created and explained himself, “I had been tracking prey, but, you know, it ended up I was tracking you..” He lowered his head and flattened his ears to the side in embarrassment. What wolf would make such a mistake?! Sin chastised himself silently. But after confiding in her his failure, an idea struck him.
She was an adult right?! She knew how to hunt and track. Maybe.. maybe she would be willing to teach him some? Sinclair immediately became brighter and he asked eagerly, “Will you help me learn to track and hunt?” He tilted his head off to one side hopefully. Please? His wide, handsome puppy eyes expressed as he waited with the end of it tail waving enthusiastically. |
