Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Return to Lunar Children

Positive energy, indeed, for it had been all that Niviaq had known since her birth. Even in hardship, her mother and father had always remained together, fighting each and every negative force away from their children with merely their smiles and kind words. It had been how Niviaq had come to be; even with the loss of her mate and several children, she could not help but try to look forward. She remembered that, like her parents, they remained very much alive in her memories, and rather than dwell on such things, she could try her best to ensure it never happened to her or another ever again. Loneliness was the easiest malady to cure, though at times, it could be quite a challenge. Had she not had an almost impossible time gaining the affections of Jaylah and Desoto so long ago? Two wolves hell bent on never trusting and yet... things changed. That brought a grin to her features as Spirit spoke; behind her, her tail bounced joyously, though her features slunk slightly at the girl's final words. They had been similar, it seems. She nodded solemnly, her motherly nature once more shining through.

"I understand, for I too have been in such a place. We all find a home eventually, dear Spirit. It took me some three years before I found myself Spirane."

Three years of alone, three years of trekking endlessly in search of something she wasn't quite sure she'd ever find again. It hadn't been easy, and she assumed it wouldn't easy for any other, but... at least she could understand the girl, or at least try to. She left the silence warm, allowing the girl to speak more if she so desired, but she would not press the matter; she had been sent out to recruit, perhaps, but she did not wish to thrust such stress on her company so soon. Besides, she was quite enjoying the company and the fresh air - why put an end to it so soon?

"Thank you."

She spoke quietly, bowing once as she followed Spirit into the shade, sighing contentedly as they came to a rest. Slowly, she lowered down onto her belly, keeping a moderate distance from the other as she rested her head atop her paws. The breeze was gentle there, away finally from the sun that seemed so relentless. Though she enjoyed the warmer months for the opportunities to swim, she couldn't pretend that she wasn't eager for the cooler months. The breeze was a refreshing reminder that they were getting closer - how wonderful, she couldn't help but think, her tail thumping lazily behind her. She'd been off in her own little world for a moment, merely basking in the energy but her ears instantly flickered towards Spirit as she spoke of water; as if a switch had been flicked, her eyes lit up, her mouth curling into an ecstatic smile.

"Oh yes! I actually came down the mountain in hopes of finding one of my old swimming spots! In this heat, there's nothing greater than it. Have you swam before? I meet so many who call me crazy for even suggesting it."

She laughed, a girlish, whimsical giggle as she eyed the water up ahead of them with an eager eye; she raised a brow, perking up as much as she could in order to get a better look. It didn't look to be the best possible water but... who knew? Perhaps its appearance was deceiving, no? Lakes were usually the best, or creeks by the falls but this one... well, they couldn't be sure until they tried it. She whined quietly under her breath, her skin practically crawling with sudden excitement - perhaps she would have leapt right for it had Spirit not spoken again, drawing her attention away from the creek and back to her. For a moment, Niviaq looked confused before she settled back into herself. Spirane - right!

"Spirane is beautiful - mountains, pines, snow on the peak all year round. It sounds like where you were born in fact!" she paused, tilting her head in thought before she continued, "As for the wolves... well, they're too lovely. Our Alpha is an honorable man, too; he's defended our home twice from challengers! There's no egos there. It's a slice of heaven, I think."

She smiled, staring off quietly for a moment once more before pawing playfully at Spirit. Hell, now they'd gotten talking about it, maybe it was a good time to bring it up, huh?

"If you'd like, I'd be more than happy to show you it! And if you're hungry, I can always spare some of my meat for you - we recently took a bighorn, so we've got plenty."
