Toric bounded from one river boulder to another, long legs taut and tingly with pent up energy. The cold air always made him feel tense, but he didn't mind it nearly as much anymore. He would never miss the aches and twinges of old age, and he had every stubborn intention of enjoying his unexpectedly restored youth to its fullest.
His star-spattered vulture's wings mantled part-way to steady his landing, and his small paws scrabbled a bit at the frosted by thankfully rough surface of the rock.

Kastor was giving him odd looks. The dragon had never been as playful or exuberant as his collie companion, though Kastor was only as old mentally as Toric was physically. It had been a blessing acquiring that egg when he did - a blessing of the metaphorical sort rather than the magical sort, that is. Toric was never one to take for granted the companionship of a dragon, and hatching Kastor had been a poetic parallel to his fresh start.

The sounds of another beast ahead made both Toric and Kastor freeze in mirrored poises of listening, heads raised and eyes scanning the river's course ahead of them.
Tor, being of keener nose, scented the air blowing their way, and was quick to pick out the mark of other dragons, Kastor's age or younger. Kastor himself recognized the scent a moment later, and Toric couldn't help but admire the way all his leafy frills extended in excited display. The collie didn't see much danger in two young dragons, and he couldn't smell any other beast in the vicinity, so he indulgently refrained from arguing when Kastor let out a resounding trill of greeting. A call like that would be easily heard despite the walls of winter trees lining this stretch of the river.
