Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Apparently, not only does the boy see fit to move out of home and abandon his family, but he also seems utterly content to throw basic hair care out the den door. I felt the perfect violet blue of my gaze narrow as the lank teen emerged from the darkness within, seating himself before me as my eyes travelled the length of his frame, searching for any imperfection or injury. So shoot me, he is still my son, I still possess an obsessive need to make sure he is alright. This physical examination however, is abruptly derailed by the mere sight of his appalling hair, the boy looking for all the world like some homeless loner, or as if his Mother and I had never taught him even the most basic of hair care. A scowl firmly settled itself across my otherwise stunning features, lips twisting into a look of disdain as I snorted, half considering pinning him to the floor and holding him down while I fixed his outrageous mop of unkempt fur. Seriously, is this like a stage or something? A passing phase? They don’t give manuals out for puppy-rearing so I hardly know wether this is just supposed to be some kind of statement, rebellion or new found style that all the teens are wearing these days. I may have to pay more attention to the pups of Diveen, see if even of them are sporting this…this….’I am homeless and rebellious and look like an inbred mongrel’ look. For now though, I let it go, merely letting my narrowed gaze be enough of an indication to my eldest son that was extremely unsupportive of this…phase.

Any further thoughts on the matter were abruptly derailed by his words, my irritation fading slightly to give way to evident surprise. He told me? When the hell did he tell me? Was I asleep? Honestly that is the only excuse I may except for his daring to tell me he already told me about his plans to leave and yet- his assertion that I yelled at him over it clearly indicates that I hadn’t been asleep when he told me, though I evidently have no memory of this whatsoever. I am entirely sure, had the boy told me and I gone off at him in a loud vocalisation of fatherly love (it sounds better then saying I flipped a lid a yelled) then I am entirely sure I would remember some of it. In fact, the things that make me angry are usually the things I remember most of all. My eyes narrowed slightly once more, head tilting a little to one side as I regarded my black and red son warily, unable to understand why the pup looked so damn smug. He’s done this before, not often, no, but he’s accused me of yelling at him other things we have never discussed. Andro says it is part of his….condition, as far as I’m concerned the boy should just damn well learn what is real and what isn’t. Why would I be hear yelling at him now if I had already done it? I sighed, the sound rumbling from within my chest, attempting to control my volatile temper although truly this simply resulted in my talking through gritted teeth.

"I don’t care if Coza-whatever, speaks to you in latin and claims to understand you, you have no right to get up and leave your family! You never spoke to me, or your mother, you never mentioned Taviora and I damn well never yelled at you, but if you keep insisting I did I’ll show you some yelling- and drop your damn attitude."

Even if I had done this yelling I was accused of, I am still his Father and I refuse to be spoken to in that tone. Maybe that is a phase to, the ‘I know everything’ tone, although truly I think Starfall might well have been born with it. Must come from Andro’s side of the family. As it was, the boy seemed fit to bring his Mother into it, my own snowy ears pricking forward to capture his words as I attempted to force some more of my irritation away. I was hurt he hadn’t told us he was leaving and I’m…well….upset that I can’t be the Father he wants and yet, for whatever reason I seem to have no ability to show that, every conversation I ever have with him turning into an argument. Alright, maybe I am a little emotional, but that’s not my fault, I just….feel things a lot more powerfully then others do, it’s hardly my fault if I express them with…volume. Starfall continued to speak, apparently attempting to blame his lack of respect on the fact that a billion years ago, Andromeda abandoned her grandfather or some such nonsense and left home without telling anyone. I felt a growl rise in my throat, all attempts at remaining calm rapidly vanishing, if he wants to use his Mother as an excuse then so be it, but I am hardly going to let it go without a fight about it.

"If you want to leave without telling your grandfather then go ahead, that is your choice, but not telling your family is a different matter. I don’t care what your Mother did, I don’t care if she told no one, your Mother came from different circumstances, she did not abandon a loving family and all her siblings because she heard that someone else had done it. If I went a slaughtered a damn puppy would you go and do it and then say because I did it, that makes it ok? Grow the hell up, Starfall. You NEVER told us, it was another one of your ridiculous dreams! Your Mother is devastated, your siblings are upset and you had the nerve to put your brother in the position of having to tell us! So don't you damn dare use your Mother as an excuse, don't you dare!"

Andro's choices are her own, always and he has no right to judge her. Alright, I probably made it significantly worse, but in that moment I didn’t care. Andro can baby him all she likes, she can make exceptions for him and his…condition and hell, to some extent I will to, but not in this. His Dreamwalking does not excuse him from being a member of his own family or having the sense to question why the hell I am so angry right now. I sighed once, attempting a final time to get rid of my irritation, meeting his gaze levelly.

"Star…look. We were upset and we were worried, it isn’t ok to do what you did, even if you misunderstood and thought you told me, you didn’t, alright?"

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
