Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

“Don’t. Please!” Mistletoe Cried desperately. “Run!” Her brother cried before his throat was open and gushing open and his killers attention was turned to her. Her smaller size left her at a disadvantage when it came to attack but she knew she could outpace him for a few meters at least. She turned on her heels knowing she was outnumbered by the pack of rouges she did the only logical thing which was to run. Mistle gasped waking from her dream happy she had not been attacked though she had tucked herself a way in a rather tight spot. She managed to squeeze from between the rock and brush with out as much trouble as she had getting into her little spot of rest. The sun seemed to be rising just in the distance but she had little desire to wait for the suns approval she ventured to the sweet scent of water.

Spring had arrived in this new strange land but it did benefit her little other than the food seemed more abundant in the warmer months. It seemed a big enough place to venture as she came to a large lake that seemed to have an island for rest in the middle she made her way to lap from a small pool and circled back to a less populated spot. There seems to be or have been a large gathering at a distance and several other split into couples or small groups. She lingered a short time before moving further from the crowd finding a tree she could relax against in the spring shade waiting for an interesting person to pass by or to approach but nothing occurred.

Mistle had grown tired of that location and picked herself up to go see a new sight she found her way to another place of water which was actually a river. She gazed at seeing it stretch from one land to another she resisted the curiosity that that grew in her spirit but kept the memory of her families’ demise due to curiosity. Her features grew dim at the memory light fleeing from her eyes but still some lingered holding to her personality giving some light to her name. She stood at the river’s edge on the soft grass letting herself relax if only for a moment waiting for intriguing events to occur.

Would waiting get her anyplace? No, but she could study her surroundings. Her gaze shifted from one ending river-wood to the other beginning. Where did these go, to who called them home. Peaceful or Cruel? She knew not the answer she would desire to study all of the creatures that called this place home for the pray to the predators though she would not opt to be that close to the other predators she could fall victim to.

The light spring breeze wrapped around running its fingers through her coat offering the scent of flowers to her nose. Newly bloomed she supposed she took a moment to glance back into the river only to have her reflection scattered with the current. Time did not bring healing only tolerance but for now she would not dwell on the past; no, she would look for something to occupy her mind and so the search for a company began again.
