Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

This is it. Today is the day. I wander over the borders of Diveen, ready to set out on my mission. I've got to wash away the scent of Diveen from my coat and wander in from the outskirts so I look like a loner. Only then will my plan succeed. I am greedy for it to be in play. I wonder who my first target will be. Will I have to work with Uncle Azrael or one of my grandparents? I guess I'll find out soon enough. Excitement coils in my frame as I lope through the open lands, coming toward the riverside. The perfect place to wash away a pack scent.

The sound of rushing water makes me pause, eyes darting through the trees. When they start moving, I yip and run, knowing well that floods are not something to be in the path of. Sticking to my instincts, I rush to high ground, finding a big hill to take cover on and hoping the flood doesn't take me as a victim. My body shudders as I watch the incoming destruction. Trees fall over and I hear the angry cracking of other trees, strong enough to hold themselves up but for how long? I can only hope there are no other wolves down there.

The water rushes past me, a smaller waves coming up the hillside to lick at my paws and wash over them, leaving me shaken but unharmed. The only problem is that now I'm on an island and water is settling around me, leaving me nowhere to go but through it. My tail flicks in agitation as I try to find a safe way to cross. Fallen logs that float are my best bet and I've been practicing my balance so that shouldn't be a problem. A lot of the water has gone high enough to reach the first few branches of some trees, creating a bridge-like path across the water. For now though, I'm thinking I might as well do what I came to do. I'm about to dive into the water when I hear someone crying out for help. My ears twitch, sensing something oddly familiar in the call. My eyes widen as my mind clicks. Vega!

Without hesitation, I dive into the water and swim to the first floating log, crawling up onto it which takes more time than I thought it would. Once up though, I only shift it a few times before I leap to the next piece of log floating. Next I jump to a low hanging branch, leaping off of it onto another large piece of debris. Before long it becomes like second nature, jumping from debris to debris with short bursts of swimming in between. Finally my eyes seek out her multi colored pelt and I race toward her, worry strong in my tri colored gaze.

I swim out to her, pushing against the strong current until I can use the tree she's up against for leverage to hold me still while I nose at her coat, a whine filtering from my lips.

"Vega, you okay? It's me, Achilles. Quaeso ut me, loqui. Dic mihi, tu okay."
(Please talk to me. Tell me you're okay)

My language drops to my natural Latin lingo, my mind only thinking of her.
